This is an old Joe Jackson song. It came on the radio last night while on my way to a writers’ workshop. I found it pretty apropos to writing or art – actually to life in general.
I thought I’d share it with you.
Get your dancing shoes on and start singing.
What do you want?
Happy Friday!
Love this song! Thanks for the pick me up!

Catchy tune. I agree that we have to know WHAT we want – so we’ll recognize it when it arrives!
And to avoid living with a feeling of “not having” or scarcity, we can appreciate or feel grateful for all the little ways we already HAVE what we’re craving. (Appreciation and gratitude always help to attract more of the same…)
For example, if you want more ME time in a very busy life, but all you have is a 30-minute window between chores…You go to the park and admire the flowers and shrubs, sit on the swing and remember how carefree life used to be … Well, you’ve gotten a taste of WHAT YOU WANT. Appreciate the heck out of it (feel how good it feels) and soon you’ll find more opportunities to enjoy these pockets of unstructured time.
This applies to ANYTHING we want. See where you already have it, or take a small step to getting some even if it’s not the whole enchilada… You will immediately FEEL better now, and that’s what it’s all about….

Thanks Thelma for your insight. That’s what I love about you…you always go sideways…gratitude and appreciation. I can hardly wait for your stories for I know they will be filled with optimism and love of oneself. Not the narcissistic self love but the love founded on respect as well as respect for others.

Haha nice 🙂 I have to be honest, I’ve never heard this song before. But it sure gets you moving! Now if only there weren’t any people around, I’d start singing along =P
