  1. Ugh! I’m sorry to hear this, Carol! I wish I could offer you useful advice, but I can’t. I will say that if that happened to me, I’d just delete everything and start over. It’s hard, but might be worth it?

  2. Oh Carol 😦 You are like the 10th author I know this year who got hacked. I feel for you, not only for what happened, but because FAKEBOOK is the lamest social site for support. They don’t answer anything and there is no real help. I wonder how you even got in touch with anyone there to help you? ❤

    • Well, my niece got in touch with them and they said that they would look into my situation but at this point, Debby, I am inclined more to get off Facebook. I have an author page but it hasn’t been very helpful in reaching my books out there, even through they’re paid ads.
I think I will take Coleen Chesebro’s advice and get a KU account. That seems a lot more promising. ❤

  3. I am so sorry, Carol. That must be so stressful and upsetting. I don’t know what you can do. I have thankfully never been through it, but a friend of mine was hacked and just started again. I hope you can do better and rescue your contacts. Sending you love xx

  4. Sorry to hear this. Nothing is safe online but at the moment it looks like fb is under attack. I know of two people who had their accounts hacked this week.

  5. So sorry to hear this… there are more people that got hacked on FB. I still have a FB account but I’m not realy active anymore. If it continues like this, I will think about closing my FB account. I hope you can recover the most of what got lost….

  6. I’ve never been hacked to the extent that you described. But many times, I’ve received messages from friends, saying they’d received friend requests or messages I hadn’t sent them. I changed my password, and that seemed to solve the problem.

You might try deleting all your accounts and starting from scratch. Be sure you’re using a strong password, containing upper and lower case letters, numbers, and punctuation. I hope that helps.

  7. It’s a nightmare being hacked. I often contemplate deleting my other social media accounts and still may one day. Facebook, though, seems especially vulnerable as well as Instagram. Good luck to you.

  8. Yikes! They just wanted a legit account for their own purposes. Darn! I have two-step authentication set up wherever possible. It’s pretty easy to set up on FB. It saved me a few times on GoDaddy.

  9. Thanks for sharing!!.. sorry you had to deal with the issues…. I had some minor issues a few years back and came to the conclusion that with all the options available, I did not need Facebook enough to have to deal with it, so I terminated my account and waked away…I have not regretted it… 🙂

Hope you have the mostest wonderfulest holiday ever and until we meet again..
May the love that you give
    Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
    And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
    No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
    On your journey through life.
